Diabetes and Hypertension Treatment

Diabetes and hypertension are major health issues in the United States. These two problems together can lead to heart disease and kidney failure. Chinese medicine has been used for thousands of years and works on the root cause of the symptoms. The program will help to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, lose weight and improve eating habits, reduce stress levels, increase energy levels, and get a good night’s sleep.

In diabetes hypertension, arteries are damaged and make targets for hardening, called atherosclerosis. Untreated, this can cause high blood pressure, which can damage blood vessels, cause heart attacks, and damage kidneys. In the United States, cardiovascular disease continues to be the leading cause of morbidity and mortality among adults, and it has rapidly become a major risk factor for diabetes patients. A major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus is hypertension. While much has been done in recent years to improve and guide the treatment of hypertension in patients with diabetes mellitus, there are still significant gaps in our knowledge. As life expectancy increases and other factors contribute to its growing prevalence, its prevalence is likely to increase. Mental/physical comorbidities can be illustrated by the comorbidities of depression and diabetes. Depression is twice as common in diabetics as in non-diabetics, and the prevalence of both conditions is increasing. As healthcare services become more specialized (and fragmented), comorbid depression and diabetes will likely become more problematic. Blood pressure will fluctuate more because of stress, anxiety, and mood swings. It is difficult to break a cycle that is worse. Treating diabetes and hypertension often involves establishing long-term plans that you can adhere to. Working with your doctor, it is important to decide on a treatment plan that takes into account your specific medical needs and personal goals. With medication, diet changes, exercise, and careful monitoring of any symptoms, this plan will be built to ensure the best possible outcomes. Building a lifelong relationship with your doctor during this time is key; they offer valuable knowledge and insight on the most effective ways to maintain your health. Your doctor will be the best ally when developing the right lifestyle for managing your diabetes and hypertension.

Diabetes can be classified into three types, each with its own cause:

  • Diabetes type 1: It is generally diagnosed during childhood or adolescence, but can develop later on. Diabetes type 1 is an autoimmune disorder in which the body attacks insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.
  • Diabetes type 2: The pancreas tries to compensate by producing more insulin, but the process is not sustainable, causing type 2 diabetes. Insulin resistance occurs when cells lose their ability to respond to insulin. The American Diabetes Association recommends screening for diabetes for people 45 years of age and older, as well as anyone under 45 who has risk factors. Early detection and treatment can reduce the risk of complications associated with diabetes.
  • Pregnancy and diabetes:A pregnant woman with gestational diabetes is 5 times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes later on in life. After delivery, blood sugar levels will usually return to normal soon after delivery if a routine screening shows high blood sugar levels during pregnancy.

Acupuncture improves nerve and endocrine control, improves sleep, decreases anxiety and depression, stabilizes blood pressure and blood sugar, enhances GI function, and mobilizes stem cells, all of which contribute to amplified synergistic effects. Acupuncture works because of this. Acupuncture management in combination with a reduced dose of their daily medication helped many patients in our practice stabilize their blood sugar and blood pressure.
